New Business:
Tri-Health Quarterly Report
·       Fishbowl Fitness Incentive Program was very successful. Members enjoyed changing up their usual route; many saw positive changes in appearance, strength, and inches lost. Members asked that next time, we have one bowl for cardio and one for strength.
·       Fleet Feet came to the fitness center and did foot assessments for members; this program was well received, and will probably return.
·       Surveys that were returned had majority ratings of fours and fives (five being the highest rating). Comments included extending the hours of operation for the fitness center, staying open later year round, or close early during winter while being open late during the summer.
·       Request for more dumbbells and an elliptical with moving arms were among the comments/requests. (The dumbbells arrived on Wednesday and the elliptical machine will be addressed as machines need to be replaced.) A torso twist machine is being added (will arrive in late May).
·       Staff evaluations have been completed.
·       An Advance Pilates has been added to the fitness program, and has been a huge success.
·       Evendale 100 incentive program returns (May 11 – July 6); water aerobics, and an “outdoor” bootcamp are classes being added to the summer program session(s).
·       The “freebie” classes were well received with an average of five participants in each class; at least three people plan to continue to take class. Another sampler week will be planned in early fall.

Jim Owens, Griffin Nature Preserve Committee
·       Commission thanked Jim for attending the meeting and commended him and the Griffin Committee on the work done at the preserve.
·       Jim stated the planned hiking/walking trails have been completed. He showed commission a copy of the trail map and said a copy can be found on the village website.
·       He offered his assistance with our trails and the pamphlet which will show trails in the village.

Old Business:
Tri-Health Report as noted in the packets and earlier presentation.

Director’s Report
·       Dave is working with our police department and officers to coordinate a fishing day at Griffin Preserve with village children, and maybe a golf day.
·       Trail pamphlet is being worked on. Dave brought a preliminary copy to the meeting; hopes to have it completed by the opening of the playground or July 4th festivities. Jim Owens recommended keeping the maps simple and clear. Other recommendations include trail ratings (leisure, hikers, etc.), and to choose verbiage carefully (some want a workout while others are looking for a safe place to put in their miles, while others just want to commune with nature and neighbors).
·       Policy subcommittee met and their recommendations will be presented next month. The discussion regarding Shelter House reservations being extended out to one year has been tabled. The Mayor is in favor of leaving the policy as is.
·       Fees subcommittee recommends that fees remain the same for 2009.
·       Erickson Project meeting is scheduled for this Sunday, April 20th at 3:00pm. If the project comes to fruition, Dave does not see an impact on the Recreation Department. He will investigate program collaboration with the facility.
·       The Fine Arts Exhibit is Friday, May 2nd through Monday, May 5th. A reception to meet the artists happens on Friday evening 6-9:30pm, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
·       The playground equipment has been ordered and arrives on May 1. Dave thinks we are still on target for the opening on Memorial Day weekend.
·       Tennis courts are currently being prepared for resurfacing. The courts will remain green while the outside area will change to blue.
·       The swimming pool slide is being primed and will be painted blue; preparation work on the wadding and main swimming pool should begin shortly. The volleyball set for the grass area has been purchased; and an additional funbrella is ready to be installed.

Phi Lambda Pi Report:
·       Members volunteered at the Egg-Stravangza event.
·       March events included a St. Patrick’s Day party and an Egg Hunt.
·       A presentation about the dangers of drinking and driving was well received.
·       The Honeybaked Hams sales were so-so; possibly due to Easter being very early this year.
·       Award’s Night is this Saturday, April 19th. Commission is invited.

Open Discussion:
·       Chad Winkle, our new swim team coach, and Cary Belyea, SwimSafe Pool Management, will be invited to our May meeting on Thursday, May 15th at 7:30am.
·       Blue Ash is beginning a swim team program. We hope some year the program will join the NSSL.
·       Soccer field lines will be addressed shortly. Kristen has been in contact with the line company owner.
·       The new soccer uniforms look great.
·       Only two baseball teams this year; interest has changed to other sport opportunities, and parents are choosing to place kids on select teams. Another factor may be soccer can be played year round, while Knothole baseball really only has a season.

Motion to adjourn made at 8:32am by Pam Meyers; seconded by Mary Lou Isaac. Motion approved.
